Effects of Stress and Treatment
Stress depletes vitamins and minerals that are essential to your health and weakens your digestive system by reducing the amount of digestive enzymes you make. Stress also weakens your adrenal glands, which controls inflammation as one of its various duties. Too much stress can lead to chronic fatigue, a shrunken thymus gland and weak immune system, and low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
Stress uses up B vitamins in your body, which help combat the effects of stress.
When you are stressed or experience fear, shock, cold, or fatigue, your adrenal glands dump adrenaline and noradrenaline into your bloodstream. These hormones raise your blood pressure and your heartbeat and tell you body to turn glycogen into glucose. Simply, your pulse quickens , you breathe faster, your blood sugar increases, your digestion slows, and you perspire.
Symptoms of stress: headaches, anxiety, nervousness, feeling angry or hostile, muscle tension, low performance, irritability, forgetfulness, feeling overloaded, and gastrointestinal problems.
To decrease stress, use geranium essential oil (aromatherapy). Geranium can be used in conjunction with sweet marjoram or ylang-ylang.
